The Engineering CAD and Graphics Teaching-Research Section has 8 faculty members in , among whom there are 5 associate professors, 3 lecturers, 1 member of Teaching Advisory Committee in Engineering Graphics of ministry of Education, 1 member of Graphics Technology Professional Committee of China Engineering Graphics Society, 1 Vice Director of Jiangsu Engineering Graphics Society.
The major teaching responsibility is curriculum teaching of Engineering Graphics and Engineering CAD for undergraduate students majoring in Water Resources and Civil Engineering, and teaching analysis and teaching reform of related curriculum. After more than 30-year, three-generation endeavor, the teaching-research section has certain impact in the teaching area of Water Engineering Graphics. Edited by the teaching-research section, published by China Higher Education Press, experiencing five revisions, the textbook Descriptive Geometry and Water Engineering Graphics has been enrolled in the outline of "11th Five-Year Plan" of Jiangsu Province and Ministry of Education, and won the national and provincial excellent textbook prizes in 2007. Several other textbooks such as Hydraulic Engineering Drafting, Basic AutoCAD 2004, Application of AutoCAD 2010 were published. The matching multimedia courseware won two national prizes and two provincial prizes. These years teaching reform achievements won the Third place Teaching Achievement Prize in Hohai University. Four teachers won the title of university-level Excellent teacher. Two teachers won the first and second place in university-level teaching competition.
In the aspects of scientific research, automation and visualization of design graphics of hydraulic engineering structures, prediction and simulation models of water information, CAD systems of common structural types of water engineering such as sluices, wharfs, shiplocks, waterway regulation design, 3D visual progress systems and 3D modelling systems of river dikes have been finished. The research achievements won two third place Provincial Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, five professional and municipal prizes.
The academic team is multi-disciplinary, majoring in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics. The discipline integration and interdiscipline of multi-disciplinary culture and the discipline of Graphics is the exploring of future development.
